Announcing The Renegade Open GT (November 23rd and 24th, 2013)

Get your army ready, because there is a new GT in town. This November the inaugural Renegade Open GT, taking place just North of the Minnesota Twin City metro area, looks to become not just one of the premiere tournaments in the Midwest, but rather the entire country. The event features four rounds on Saturday, judged via a Win/Loss/Draw system, with the top sixteen moving on into a winners bracket on Sunday. The rest of the field will have their scores cleared and will enter into a separate three round tournament scored equally on their table top performance and the appearance of their army.

The Renegade Open GT came into fruition through a meeting of the minds. This team includes competition focused players such as Dave Ankarlo (or Adepticon top eight fame) and myself, several hobbyists from the area, as well as a group of local store owners who wished to not only strengthen the gaming community, but show the nation how great the table top wargaming scene is in Minnesota. This team has spent several months using of their unique skills to not just create a tournament, but to create a memorable experience - the term 'spectacle' is used frequently at our meetings. The Renegade Open GT is not a one or two person show, from the very start we are a team of volunteers who wish to create an amazing event for the global gaming community we are a part of.


Why should you attend the Renegade Open GT?

1)  Lots of Prizes! It is not all about the prizes, but they sure are great to win, and we sure have a lot of their for a first year event! This includes $1,200 in cash prizes divided between the top 16, including $400 for first place. These are not gift cards, this is cold hard wads of fiat paper currency in the hands of the top guys. On top of that we already have $550 in gift cards guaranteed for others to win, plus lots trophies. Not to mention we plan to have lots of door prizes, so even if you are not at the top of the pack, chances are good you will come home with something in your hand. The best part? We still have over ten months to get more sponsors and prizes! Our team includes professional sales people, and starting next week they will be devoting their time to getting you more swag and stuff! It is pretty sweet.

2) Awesome Venue! We are not tucked away in some poorly lit venue, the Rockwoods Banquet Center is a great establishment that is sure to impress. Need I mention table service? Yes that is right, by simply raising a flag at your gaming table you will signal one of the servers who are dedicated to our event. They will not only come and take your order at the table, but will also deliver it to you while you play. This includes a full restaurant and bar. No worrying about running off to fast food during a break, or long lines at the restaurant, simply order when you are hungry and have your food delivered by the lunch break. Thirsty? No need to move a muscle. Traveling from out of town? Great! Literally next door to the venue is a Holiday Inn...complete with a water park. What more do you want from me?

3) Sweet Tables! While we already have secured enough tables and terrain for 100 participants, we have several specialists devoting their time to making high quality themed tables. Because we already have tables and terrain, these guys can spend their time creating unique settings of the highest caliber for you to play on. You can see examples of what I am talking about here.

4) Support A Cause! From the onset we wanted the Renegade Open GT to support something. We are currently in talks with the organization, a group that both domestically and internationally supports children in hospitals, and will formally announce the partnership once the details are finalized.

So, in essence, you should probably come to this event, because if you don't...you will miss out!
